Royal Caribbean's Anthem of the Seas arrived in New York 1 day late after having to make an unexpected stop in Nassau in the Bahamas, The unanticipated stop was due to a medical emergency which had the ship making the stop between calls at Labadee, Haiti (Private Beach) and New Yoprk / New Jersey.

The Anthem of the Seas was supposed to arrive in New York on Friday but was delayed until 10:50 PM on Saturday night. Passengers spent the night onboard alongside Cape Liberty, NJ and disembarked at 6:00 AM on Sunday (Today).

The Celebrity Summit, of Celebrity Cruises, was supposed to arrive in New York at 7:00 AM Sunday but slowed down significantly from Bermuda to New York to allow the Anthem to disembark passengers first at the terminal. At approximately 9:30 AM this morning the Anthem of the Seas departed from Cape Liberty (empty) and sailed up the Hudson River to around Soho and turned only to sail down the river again to the lower river off Bayonne and Staten Island.

The Celebrity Summit pulled along side the Cape Liberty Cruise Terminal around 10:00 AM Sunday (today).

The Anthem of the Seas is expected to pull back into Cape Liberty once the Celebrity Summit departs today around 4 PM. The Anthem of the Seas will depart on a modified 5-day Bermuda Cruise which has been cut to 4 days and will no longer offer an overnight stay in Bermuda. Passengers will be refunded for the missed day .

Remembering United States Lines S/S United States' Maiden Voyage.

RXR Reality's Artists Rendering of the S/S United States after it is jubilantly restored. Today marks the 68th anniversary of the maiden voyage of the SS United States of United States lines. The ship left New York on July 3, 1952 with a full complement of passengers. The ship broke the prior speed record for the transatlantic crossing taking the blue ribbon away from the queen Mary. Yes if United States was the fastest    ship to ever cross the Atlantic at 35.92 knots. The SS United States remained in service until 1969 at which time she was laid up. Numerous plans to reactivate the ship never materialized and the ship has remained idle and stripped of her interiors.  To date, the 55,330 GRT, SS United States is the largest passenger ship to be built entirely in the US. She was built in 1950 into 51 at a cost of over $79 million at the Newport News shipbuilding and drydock company. Measuring 990 feet long, 101 1/2 feet wide and a draft of 31 feet the ship
