Carnival Cruise Line's Carnival Sunrise is Named in New York City

Image
Following a $200 million dry dock that is already generating raves from guests sailing on its first cruises out of Norfolk, the transformed Carnival Sunrise was officially named today by godmother Kelly Arison – daughter of Carnival Corporation & plc Chairman Micky Arison and his wife Madeleine – in an elegant and memorable ceremony at the Manhattan Cruise Terminal in New York City.

As a Carnival godmother, Kelly Arison carries on a family tradition – her mother, Madeleine was godmother to the ship when it first entered service in 1999, and her grandmother Lin Arison served as godmother to Carnival Sunrise’s sister ship, Carnival Sunshine, in 2013.

“To be a part of Carnival Sunrise’s official naming is more than I could have ever imagined and an experience I’ll never forget,” said Kelly Arison. “The ship is absolutely beautiful, and I’m so honored to not only carry on my family’s legacy as godmother but to also use this opportunity to raise awareness for a well-deser…

In those 7 hours, 3,000+ people disembarked, their luggage was unloaded, food and supplies were on-boarded, all cabins were stripped, linens washed, beds made fresh, 3,000+ new Passengers embarked, their luggage was put onboard, fuel loaded and exterior maintenance was performed on the ship.

As she left Cape Liberty, the Celebrity Summit hooked a right hand turn heading torward the Verarazano Bridge and passing the stationary Anthem of the Seas - which spent most of her day hovering between Brooklyn and Staten Island. The Celebrity Summit and Anthem of the Seas exchanged horn blows as they passed each other. Both Celebrity Cruises and Royal Caribbean are part of the Royal Caribbean International Family.

50 Things to Do At Sea.

Image
We have compiled the list of 50 things to do at Sea. I have met with a number of potential first time cruise passengers who have expressed concerns over what to do while having a day at sea. Many ships have experiences and attractions that are unique to those particular ships such as a surfing simulator, Golf simulator, zip lines, cooking classes and more. Our list covers activities that are common to most ships so the list, in some cases, is shorter than the entire list of options.
