Small Ship Cruising Changes Up New York Ports.

Although many of the larger cruise companies operating from New York get the press, there are a number of small cruise lines that offer unique itineraries from New York to coastal / inland waterway ports.

Examples of such cruise lines include: American Cruise Line and Blount Adventure Cruises.  Years ago these cruise lines utilized the Chelsea Piers as an embarkation point in the Big Apple. Due to over crowding at the Chelsea Piers, these small operators have been forced to find other piers within the port to load stores and embark / disembark passengers.

American Cruise Line has relocated to Pier 35 on the East River which used to be utilized by cargo ship lines - Netumar and North American West Africa Line (NAWAL).

Surprisingly Blount Adventure Cruises has relocated their embarkation point to Pier 81 on the North RIver. The pier is the home to what used to be World Yacht and now the North River Lobster Dinner Cruise Ship Destiny.

Caribbean Princess Heads North

Earlier this week, Princess Cruise's Caribbean Princess left New York on a unique itinerary sailing from Brooklyn on 8/19/2019 to Halifax, Nova Scotia; Sydney Nova Scotia; Nuuk, Greenland; Qaqortoq Greenland; Nanortalik Greenland; and St. John, New Brunswick, Canada. The 15 day itinerary offers unique ports of call not normally featured on cruises from the Big Apple.

During the summer various cruise lines have been trying to offer unique itineraries including northern ports like Iceland and Greenland.

The 113,000 ton, 951 foot long and 118 foot wide Caribbean Princess is offering a number of  New England Canada cruises during the fall.

Norwegian Cruise Line's Nowegian Encore is Floated Out of Meyer Werft's Covered Building Dock

August 17, 2019 - Norwegian Cruise Line, the innovator in global cruise travel, today announced that its latest ship, Norwegian Encore, successfully completed a major construction milestone, when it emerged for the first time from the Meyer Werft ship building dock in Papenburg, Germany.  
Norwegian Encore will remain in the shipyard port for the final phase of construction, before her conveyance up the Ems River and towards the North Sea at the end of September. At nearly 1,100 feet long, with a gross tonnage of almost 170,000 and a guest capacity of 3,998, the ship will be delivered to the cruise line on Oct. 30, 2019. She will be christened in Miami on Nov. 21, 2019 and will commence seven-day voyages to the Caribbean on Nov. 24, 2019.

Back by popular demand - We now are returning to our roots and am now  providing weekly ship schedules right on our main page  so people can view the cruises departing in the next 1-2 weeks and familiarize themselves with the ships and schedules. In addition we continue to provide cruise schedules online for at-least the next six months.

I also felt like the site was too stagnant so now you can come back daily to check our latest cruise news. In addition we have added fun items to our line-up - such as cruise crossword puzzles, trivia and more.

Carnival Cruise Line to Operate Largest Bermuda Season Ever, Adds Week-Long Voyages from Charleston and Baltimore in Addition to New York

Carnival Cruise Line will operate its largest Bermuda season ever in 2019-2020, with more than 40 voyages visiting the nation, including eight week-long cruises departing from Baltimore and Charleston next year.

In total, six different Carnival ships – Carnival Breeze, Magic, Pride, Radiance, Sunshine and Sunrise – will offer four- to nine-day Bermuda cruises from five homeports along the eastern seaboard between now and next year.

Carnival is the only cruise operator to offer round-trip Bermuda cruises from Charleston, Port Canaveral and Fort Lauderdale. Nine-day Bermuda departures have also been added to the New York-based schedules of the totally transformed Carnival Sunrise and Carnival Radiance that include four-day cruises to the island as well.

Peaceboat Organization to Operate ex. Pullmantur Zenith as Peaceboat II Starting in 2020

The Peaceboat organization, a Japanese nongovernmental organization promoting world peace, has announced that they have reached an agreement to operate Pullmantur's Zenith.

The 1,828-guest Zenith is expected to leave the Pullmantur fleet in early 2020 and begin sailing for Peaceboat as the Peaceboat II starting in April 2020. The Zenith (Peaceboat II) is expected to sail alongside the Ocean Dream (ex Carinival Tropicale) which has been operating for Peaceboat for a number of years.

Peaceboat stated that 2020 itineraries for the Peaceboat II (Zenith) will be announced shortly most likely sailing 3 month  voyages around the world.

It should be noted that the Zenith spent a good portion of her career sailing from New York under the ownership of Celebrity Cruises. Sailing weekly from the Big Apple to Bermuda during the Spring, Summer and Fall.

Scenic Luxury Cruises Takes Delivery of the Luxury Yacht Scenic Eclipse - Christening To Be Held in New York

Scenic Luxury Cruises & Tours has today confirmed it took delivery of Scenic Eclipse on July 26 from the Uljanik Shipyard. Scenic Eclipse departed the shipyard at 8:00PM on Saturday, July 27, on its journey to Valetta, Malta for registration. From there, she will make a number of short stops before arriving in Reykjavik, Iceland, where she will commence operations of her first scheduled cruise. The inaugural voyage is a 13-day discovery sailing via Greenland and Eastern Canada before arriving in Quebec on August 27. And then heading to NYC for its Christening by Godmother Dame Helen Mirren.
In addition, Scenic today released footage of the final tests and trials of the state-of-the-art Airbus H130 helicopters. Cunard's Queen Elizabeth Call in New York On Repositioing Cruise

Last week also presented another unique visitor to New York City. Cunard's Queen Elizabeth made a call at the New York Cruise Terminal for a day to allow her passengers to enjoy a day in the Big Apple.

Arriving in New York at around 5:00 AM, the Queen Elizabeth spent a full 12 hours in port - allowing her passengers to explore.

The Queen Elizabeth called in New York City on 49 Day Cruise From Vancouver British Columbia Canada to Southampton England.

The Cruise went north from Vancouver on June 20th, 2019 to various ports in Alaska, California, Mexico Guatemala, Panama Canal Transit, Aruba, Florida, Halifax, Newfoundland, Iceland, Scotland. Ireland and Southampton England where the cruise ends on August 8th. The cruise is also sold in segments and an 18 day New York to Southampton segment was available.

The Queen Elizabeth was built in Italy in 2010 and measures 961 feet long and 105 wide weighing 90,901 tons. She carries a crew of 900 and 2,500 passengers. She will spend the rest…
